Francesca Elettra Cudignotto is an artist from Vicenza, Italy. She has joined us here at Wearable Therapy to create some edgy and mind-opening designs. Here’s our interview Q&A with Elettra:

What was your journey to becoming an artist?

I’m always been a little messy artist since I was child . I spent lot of time just with crayons and then I chose art school and university . Now that I’m here , I don’t know if I really am an artist, but I draw all day long every day of the week!

Do you have any other jobs?

Nope

What inspires your art?

Mostly my feelings and the nature.

Do you have any trademarks/recurring themes in your art?

Yes, I love the use of texture and wild colour and when I have to draw just for me . I usually draw a ginger girl… I think these are my themes.

What mediums do you usually work in?

Nowadays I work in digital, scanning lot of different papers to use as base.

Where can our customers find you or your work online?

I have a facebook page and an Instagram.

What was your inspiration/can you describe the design that you did for WT?

Carousel of life: This design shows all the main emotion you feel during your life . So I tried to make little stories in one picture . I always start from a piece of paper and then I go ahead sketching till I find what I want . During this process I found someone scared , someone enjoying its moment smelling the breeze, someone excited and someone jelous about the couple . I took them all together, making the final copy using my PC and then I started the colours, which I wanted psychedelic and vivid as the emotions are on ours life.

Red dress: The main starting point was the red dress hanging on the trees . I found them so poetic and powerful. Then I started thinking about how to show a body that is no longer there, and I started sketching until I found another powerful element: the shadow. That was exact what I needed- a dress without a woman but with a shadow as to show something is still there and nobody can forget. To get a more dramatic feeling, I used acid colours as greenish and reddish. At the end, I added the red wake of the cars because to show the “guilty ” of that kind of streets where murders happen.

Other than your own, what is your favorite WT product?

Indigenous women- the one with the red dress on the tree (design pictured to the right)
